SEasonal beertender - Brooklyn
We are seeking an enthusiastic craft beer-lover to serve in Strong Rope Brewery’s taprooms in Red Hook and Gowanus during our summer season. As onsite brand ambassadors beertenders are essential to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that is vital to the culture of our space. This position will be seasonal from May to October.
Essential responsibilities:
Serving
Work with patrons to provide the best beer experience possible including understanding the history of Strong Rope brewery, provide a welcoming experience, explaining beer styles, guiding guest to beers based on their preference, answer customer questions efficiently, thoughtfully, and respectfully
Take orders in a timely manner, Operate the bar with attention to detail, ensuring supplies are stocked and the space is clean at all times
Clearing and washing glassware
Keeping space looking neat and organized
Periodically check bathroom: sweep, empty trash, refill toilet paper/paper towels/soap as needed
Change kegs, restock beer as needed
Use Point of Sale system (Square) to accurately record orders, track inventory, and process payments
Understanding all the products we sell
General
Follow opening and closing guidelines
Update signage (draft menu and outside sign)
Clearly communicate challenges/changes to manager and team members
Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with beer offerings/styles/taste, general knowledge of Strong Rope Brewery space/history/focus
Interest in further developing personal beer knowledge and palette
Strong customer service skills and ability to handle high volume and hectic bar environment with calm collected manner
Bartending experience a plus
Must be available nights and weekends, from May to October
Friendly, enthusiastic manner
Ability to multitask, punctual, self-motivated, flexible
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and nonverbal)
Must be 21+ years of age
Cicerone Certified Beer Server preferred
Physical Demands – Applicants Must Safely Be Able To:
To stand for long periods of time (up to 10 hours per day)
To repeatedly lift heavy materials and full kegs
Salary: $13.5/hr + tips ($16/hr min guaranteed)

Represent Strong Rope Brewery at industry events and festivals

Strong customer service skills and ability to handle high volume and hectic bar environment with calm collected manner

Must be available nights and weekends, from Memorial Day to mid-August, with possible extension until early October
Friendly, enthusiastic manner
Ability to multitask, punctual, self-motivated, flexible
