Seasonal Beertender
Job Summary:
Strong Rope Brewery is seeking enthusiastic, craft beer-loving Seasonal Beertenders to join our taproom teams in Gowanus and Red Hook, Brooklyn for our busy summer season. In this role, you will act as an ambassador to Strong Rope’s taprooms, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that is essential to the culture of our space. You will deliver exceptional customer service, ensure a clean and organized taproom, and share your passion and knowledge of craft beer with every guest.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Engage with patrons to provide an outstanding beer experience, including sharing the history of Strong Rope Brewery, explaining beer styles, and recommending beers based on guest preferences.
Take orders promptly, operate the bar with meticulous attention to detail, and ensure that all supplies are fully stocked.
Clear and wash glassware efficiently while maintaining a neat and organized taproom environment, including resetting furniture and decor, and cleaning tables.
Periodically monitor and maintain the cleanliness of bathroom facilities, including sweeping, emptying trash, and refilling supplies.
Change kegs and restock beer as needed, ensuring continuous quality of service.
Use the Point of Sale system (Square) to accurately record orders, track inventory, and process payments.
Possess comprehensive knowledge of all products to answer customer questions thoughtfully and respectfully.
Follow established opening and closing guidelines.
Clearly communicate any challenges or changes to managers and team members.
Clear knowledge and understanding of all non-beer offerings at Strong Rope Brewery, including, but not limited to, wine, spirits, and cider.
Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with a wide range of beer offerings, styles, and the history/focus of Strong Rope Brewery.
A genuine interest in further developing personal beer knowledge and palate.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle high-volume, fast-paced bar environments calmly and efficiently.
Prior NYC bartending/serving experience is a plus.
Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Friendly, enthusiastic, and self-motivated with excellent communication skills (both verbal and nonverbal).
Must be 21+ years of age.
Cicerone Certified Beer Server a plus.
Working Conditions:
Variable schedule but must be available nights and weekends for approximately 10-20/hrs per week.
Season April-October.
Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours per day).
Capable of safely lifting heavy materials and full kegs repeatedly.
Compensation:
$13.50/hr + tips ($16/hr guaranteed).
Vacation/personal/sick days: Earn 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours per year.
