Strong Rope Brewery® is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Jason Sahler and Christina Quintero. Jason is originally from Rochester, New York, graduated from New York University with a degree in Sustainable Development, and has lived in Brooklyn for the last 15+ years. We are dedicated to promoting New York ingredients and travel extensively throughout New York state, working with malt, hop, and beer producers from the Southern Tier, to the Adirondack Region, to Long Island's North Fork. Strong Rope Brewery is now using 100% New York ingredients for all our beers.

Jason was an award-winning homebrewer before taking the next step and started his own brewery. Strong Rope Brewery creates handcrafted local and organic ales featuring seasonal offerings that will use the freshest vegetables, fruits, herbs, and spices showcasing the New York State farmers and maltsters we work with to create great tasting beer.

Strong Rope is a name with origins that date back to 2001. It is an homage to Eric Ropiteau. He was Jason’s best friend and has been an inspiration for everything we have done since then and this is our small way to honor his memory. Check out the full story here.

Interested in our original logo...that funny little "carrot" is inspired by the original cuneiform symbol for all about it here. Since we’ve transitioned to using 100% New York malts and hops in 2018, we refreshed our logo to better reflect that mission which you primarily see in use today.

Social Responsibility

Owner Jason Sahler studied sustainable design and development at New York University and is passionate about incorporating sustainable practices into all aspects of the brewery. This core feature of the brewery is its promotion of environmental sustainability by selling organic and local products, reducing waste in the production and retail of the brewery. Whenever possible Strong Rope Brewery will purchase energy-efficient equipment, incorporate green construction, and implement operational practices, minimizing environmental impact, with the eventual goal of creating a LEED certified brewery. Strong Rope Brewery will work with NYSERDA to improve energy efficiency to the manufacturing process of brewing and fermenting beer.

In addition, we strive to work with vendors with similar ideals. Currently we’ve been fortunate enough to work with these great companies:
